This bill amends the Oklahoma Cosmetology and Barbering Act to introduce new continuing education requirements for license renewal. Starting January 1, 2026, all licensees will be required to complete twelve hours of approved continuing education courses within the 24 months prior to their license renewal or reactivation. The State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering is tasked with establishing rules regarding the subjects included in these courses, ensuring that a specified number of required topics are covered as part of the continuing education.
Additionally, the bill clarifies the renewal process and penalties for late renewal. It maintains the existing structure for license expiration and renewal applications, while also detailing the requirements for individuals whose licenses have been expired for five years or more, including the necessity to register for review hours at a cosmetology or barber school. The effective date for these changes is set for November 1, 2025.
