Senate Bill No. 466 amends the salary structure for county officers in Oklahoma. The bill establishes a new salary cap, increasing the maximum annual salary from Forty-nine Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($49,500.00) to Seventy-four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($74,500.00). Additionally, it specifies that the basic salary for the sheriff must not be less than Forty-four Thousand Dollars ($44,000.00) and also cannot exceed the new cap of Seventy-four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($74,500.00).
The bill also clarifies that the county budget board, rather than the members of the county, will set the salaries for all elected county officials within the legal limits. Furthermore, it stipulates that the annual salaries fixed by the relevant sections of the law will be paid either monthly or bi-monthly, as ordered by the board of county commissioners. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
