The "Respect for Citizens Act of 2025" establishes new regulations regarding the validity of certain driver licenses in Oklahoma. Specifically, it declares that any driver license issued by another state exclusively to undocumented immigrants, or those that do not provide proof of lawful presence in the United States, will be considered invalid for operating a motor vehicle in Oklahoma. This includes licenses that may appear similar to those issued to citizens or lawful residents but are marked to indicate the holder's undocumented status.
Under this act, law enforcement officers are required to issue citations to individuals driving with these invalid licenses. Additionally, to enhance public awareness, law enforcement agencies must maintain a list on their websites detailing which out-of-state driver license classes are deemed invalid in Oklahoma. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
