Senate Bill No. 275 establishes the Oklahoma Workforce Housing Commission, which will be created on January 1, 2026, and will operate until December 30, 2035. The Commission will consist of fifteen members appointed by the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, with specific representation requirements to ensure diverse perspectives from urban and rural communities, low-income populations, and organizations assisting special populations. The Commission will serve as the primary body to address housing needs for workers at all income levels and will be subject to the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act and the Oklahoma Open Records Act.
Additionally, the bill mandates the Oklahoma Workforce Commission to develop rules for a comprehensive housing needs assessment, an annual report and action plan, a long-term state plan for affordable housing expansion, and evaluations of existing housing programs. The Commission will also make recommendations to the Legislature regarding policies and incentives to enhance housing development. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
