The bill establishes the Taiwan Regional Trade Office as an administrative component of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, aimed at facilitating economic relationships between Oklahoma-based businesses and entities in the Taiwan region. The Office will promote business-to-business trading activities, provide information on trading opportunities, and coordinate outreach efforts consistent with U.S. foreign policy. It will also manage federal actions that promote transactions between Taiwan-based entities and the U.S., conduct training programs for Oklahoma business owners, and produce promotional materials to support its mission.
Additionally, the bill mandates that the Taiwan Regional Trade Office maintain a physical presence in Taipei, Taiwan, and requires the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to conduct a cost/benefit analysis by January 1, 2029, to assess the Office's effectiveness in generating net direct state benefits. If the analysis indicates that the Office has not met the expected benefits, the Department is directed to cease its operations. The Department is also authorized to promulgate necessary rules for the implementation of these provisions.
