House Bill No. 1021 amends the existing law regarding required equipment for motorcycles in Oklahoma. The bill removes the previous restriction that limited the height of motorcycle handlebars to eye level of the operator. This change allows for greater flexibility in motorcycle design and customization, potentially accommodating a wider range of rider preferences and styles.

In addition to the amendment regarding handlebars, the bill maintains existing requirements for motorcycle safety equipment, including the need for rearview mirrors, a windshield or protective eyewear, a functioning speedometer, fenders, a compliant horn, and a noise-suppressing system. The legislation also reiterates that individuals under the age of eighteen must wear a crash helmet that meets federal safety standards. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
