The Oklahoma National Guard CareerTech Assistance Act establishes a program to provide tuition assistance to eligible members of the Oklahoma National Guard who enroll in technology center schools. The program will offer financial support equivalent to the tuition for career and technology programs leading to certification or licensure, with assistance limited to a maximum of three years and contingent on the availability of funds. Eligible Guard members must meet specific criteria, including maintaining good academic standing, fulfilling service obligations, and exhausting federal education benefits before receiving state assistance. The program also includes provisions for repayment of assistance if eligibility requirements are not met and allows for hardship waivers.
Additionally, the act creates the Oklahoma National Guard CareerTech Assistance Revolving Fund, which will be funded through state appropriations and will be used to support the program. The State Board of Career and Technology Education is tasked with notifying the Adjutant General of available funding and promulgating rules for the program's implementation. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025, and includes an emergency clause for immediate enforcement upon passage.
