This bill proposes an increase in benefits for certain members of the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System. Specifically, it stipulates that any individual receiving benefits as of June 30, 2025, who has been retired for five years or more, will receive a two percent increase in their benefits, effective from the date of the act. This increase is contingent upon the individual not falling under specific exceptions outlined in the bill.
One notable exception applies to members who joined the system prior to January 1, 1981. For these individuals, any pension adjustments—whether increases or decreases—will be modified by one-third of any corresponding changes to the base salary of regular police officers. Consequently, any benefit increase that these members may be eligible for after July 1, 2020, will be offset by the adjustments made to their pensions as a result of this provision.
