AS INTRODUCED

A Resolution condemning acts of political violence;
8 and honoring the innocent victims who were injured
and killed during a shooting at President Trump’s
9 rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.

WHEREAS, President Donald Trump was shot at and injured when a
11
gunman opened fire during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania; and
12
WHEREAS, innocent Americans were killed and critically injured
13
during the attempted assassination; and
14
WHEREAS, courageous law enforcement officers, Secret Service
15
agents, and countless other first responders and bystanders assisted
16
in the response; and
17
WHEREAS, senseless acts of violence such as those that occurred
18
on July 13, 2024, underscore the need for unification and peace in
19
our nation; and
20
WHEREAS, political violence undermines the very foundation of
21
democracy; and
22
WHEREAS, such acts of violence must never be tolerated.

1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 4TH
2 EXTRAORDINARY SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
3 THAT the Oklahoma State Senate condemns political violence in
4 any form.
5 THAT the Oklahoma State Senate recognizes and honors the
6 innocent victims who were injured and killed during a shooting at
7 President Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.
