7 AS INTRODUCED

8 A Resolution recognizing child care providers; and
8 declaring May 27, 2024, through June 2, 2024,
9 Provider Appreciation Week.

13 WHEREAS, Child Care Aware of America and other organizations
13
14 nationwide are recognizing child care providers this week; and
14
15 WHEREAS, over half the children under the age of six nationwide
15
16 are estimated to spend some time in a nonparental care arrangement
16
17 on a weekly basis, which provides critical enrichment opportunities,
17
18 nurtures development for children of all backgrounds, and is a vital
18
19 building block of our state economy; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has created tremendous hardship
20
21 for child care providers and the families of Oklahoma who depend on
21
22 them and child care providers have continued to meet the needs of
22
23 families while risking their health and financial stability to
23
24 remain open; and

1 WHEREAS, Oklahoma recognizes these hardships and has provided
1
2 much-needed relief to providers to help sustain the viability of
2
3 child care; and
3
4 WHEREAS, our future depends on the quality of the early
4
5 childhood experiences provided to young children today and support
5
6 for high-quality child care represents a worthy commitment to our
6
7 children's future.

8 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

9 OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

10 THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives declares May 27,
10
11 2024, through June 2, 2024, as Provider Appreciation Week in
11
12 Oklahoma and urges all citizens to recognize child care providers
12
13 for their important work.
