 9            A Concurrent Resolution praising the Food Bank of
 9            Eastern Oklahoma, Hunger Free Oklahoma, and the
10            Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma; recognizing April 22,
10            2024, as Anti-Hunger Day in Oklahoma; and directing
11            distribution.

14         WHEREAS, the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Hunger Free
14
15   Oklahoma, and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma have led the charge
15
16   to provide access to nutritious food and pathways to self-
16
17   sufficiency for Oklahomans facing hunger; and
17
18         WHEREAS, according to the United States Department of
18
19   Agriculture, Oklahoma is the sixth-hungriest state in the nation;
19
20   and
20
21         WHEREAS, the majority of people served by food assistance
21
22   programs are chronically hungry children, seniors on fixed incomes,
22
23   post-secondary learners working to build skills for the workforce,
23
24   and hardworking families struggling to make ends meet; and

 1       WHEREAS, alleviating hunger supports thriving families and a
 1
 2   thriving economy.

 3       NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 2ND SESSION
 3
 4   OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
 4
 5   CONCURRING THEREIN:
 5
 6       THAT the Oklahoma State Legislature recognizes April 22, 2024,
 6
 7   as Anti-Hunger Day in Oklahoma.
 7
 8       THAT the Oklahoma State Legislature praises the work of the Food
 8
 9   Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Hunger Free Oklahoma, and the Regional
 9
10   Food Bank of Oklahoma for their dedication in helping address
10
11   hunger.
11
12       THAT a copy of this resolution be distributed to Food Bank of
12
13   Eastern Oklahoma Chief Executive Officer Jeff Marlow, Hunger Free
13
14   Oklahoma Chief Executive Officer Chris Bernard, and Regional Food
14
15   Bank of Oklahoma Chief Executive Officer Stacy Dykstra.
