7 An Act relating to schools; directing the Oklahoma
7 State Department of Education to develop or acquire
8 and implement certain threat intervention training
8 program; identifying who the program shall be
9 designed for; directing that the program use certain
9 approach; providing for codification; and providing
10 an effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
14
15 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 24-100.9 of Title 70, unless
15
16 there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

17 The Oklahoma State Department of Education shall develop or
17
18 acquire and implement a training program designed to help school
18
19 staff and faculty identify a potential threat and provide an
19
20 opportunity to intervene and support a student on a path to violence
20
21 at the school. The training program shall be for staff and faculty
21
22 at the middle school through high school levels in all Oklahoma
22
23 Districts. The training program must include a research-based
23
24 approach and incorporate predictive analytics to efficiently

1 identify, analyze, classify, and deescalate threats of targeted

2 violence to designated school leaders and administrators so that
2
3 appropriate interventions can be utilized to prevent violence.

4 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
