7 An Act relating to state government; requiring state
7 governmental entities to install certain restroom
8 facilities; providing for applicability of
8 requirements to facilities within the Oklahoma State
9 Capitol; providing for applicability of requirements
9 to institutions within The Oklahoma State System of
10 Higher Education; providing for time period of
10 compliance; providing for codification; providing an
11 effective date; and declaring an emergency.

15 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

16 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
16
17 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 501 of Title 61, unless there is
17
18 created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

19 A. Within eighteen (18) months from the effective date of this
19
20 act, each agency, board, commission, department or other state
20
21 governmental entity shall install at least one facility within any
21
22 publicly accessible restroom under the entity's control consisting
22
23 of a bidet which meets or exceeds the requirement for that type of
23
24 facility pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

 1 B. The provisions of this section shall be applicable to the

2 Oklahoma House of Representatives and to the Oklahoma State Senate
2
3 for restrooms located within the State Capitol building.
3
4 C. The provisions of this section shall be applicable to
4
5 facilities owned by or under the control of the Oklahoma State
5
6 Regents for Higher Education and to any of the buildings owned by or
6
7 under the control of institutions within The Oklahoma State System
7
8 of Higher Education.

9 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.

10 SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
10
11 of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
11
12 declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
12
13 be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
