7 An Act relating to the Oklahoma Historical Society;
7 amending 53 O.S. 2021, Section 1.4a, which relates to
8 the Office of Tribal Relations; providing format
8 material may be available on; authorizing the Office
9 to consult sources; directing the Office to deliver
9 material; and providing an effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 53 O.S. 2021, Section 1.4a, is
14
15 amended to read as follows:

16 Section 1.4a A. There is hereby created within the Research
16
17 Division of the Oklahoma Historical Society the Office of Tribal
17
18 Relations. The Office of Tribal Relations shall:
18
19 1. Gather, preserve, and maintain all records, documents, and
19
20 material related to negotiations and agreements between tribal
20
21 governments and the state and political subdivisions;

22 2. Maintain an archive of all compacts and agreements between
22
23 tribal governments and the state and political subdivisions; and

 1 3. Organize the compacts, agreements and related documents and

2 material in a manner on paper or in electronic form that is
2
3 accessible to the public.

4 B. The Office of Tribal Relations is authorized to consult
4
5 sources, including, but not limited to, state agencies and tribal
5
6 governments, in order to obtain information necessary to fulfill its
6
7 duties set forth in subsection A of this section.
7
8 C. The Office of Tribal Relations shall deliver an updated copy
8
9 of the material described in paragraph 3 of subsection A of this
9
10 section to each member of the Oklahoma Legislature by December 1 of
10
11 every even-numbered year.

12 D. The Oklahoma Historical Society shall provide suitable
12
13 office space for the Office of Tribal Relations.
13
14 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
