7 An Act relating to career and technology education;
7 amending 70 O.S. 2021, Section 14-132, which relates
8 to the State Board of Career and Technology Education
8 and authorization to enter certain agreements;
9 authorizing the State Board of Career and Technology
9 Education to outline certain criteria and
10 requirements related to high school equivalency
10 credential; and providing an effective date.

14 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

15 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 70 O.S. 2021, Section 14-132, is
15
16 amended to read as follows:

17 Section 14-132. A. The State Board of Career and Technology
17
18 Education is hereby authorized and directed to enter into agreements
18
19 and to contract for the provision of adult education, assessment and
19
20 other services for courses leading to a high school equivalency
20
21 diploma. Any adult education program providing services pursuant to
21
22 a contract or subcontract with the State Board of Career and
22
23 Technology Education and receiving funds from the State Board of
23
24 Career and Technology Education or any contractor with the State

1 Board of Career and Technology Education shall be subject to the

2 provisions of the administrative rules of the State Board of Career
2
3 and Technology Education.

4 B. The Department of Education shall retain the responsibility
4
5 for issuing diplomas to those who successfully complete a high
5
6 school equivalency test, pursuant to criteria established by the
6
7 State Board of Education.

8 C. The State Board of Career and Technology Education is hereby
8
9 authorized to outline the eligibility criteria, and requirements for
9
10 individuals 21 years of age and older, seeking to obtain a high
10
11 school equivalency credential based on their work experience and
11
12 previous education.

13 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
