7 An Act relating to public lands; requiring the
7 Commissioners of Land Office to remove or eradicate
8 certain harmful woody species; defining term;
8 providing for codification; and providing an
9 effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
13
14 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 2001 of Title 64, unless there
14
15 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

16 The Commissioners of the Land Office shall remove or eradicate
16
17 all harmful woody species on land owned by and leased by the
17
18 Commissioners of the Land Office. "Harmful woody species" means a
18
19 tree or shrub species that is rapidly encroaching into adjoining
19
20 lands and is likely to cause harm to the environment or economy.

21 Harmful woody species include, but are not limited to, juniperus
21
22 virginiana (eastern red cedar), juniperus scopulorum (Rocky Mountain
22
23 juniper), juniperus monosperma (one-seed juniper), and tamarix
23
24 ramosissima (salt cedar).

1 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
