7 An Act relating to water and water rights; amending
7 82 O.S. 2021, Section 1020.19, which relates to
8 metering of wells; providing that the Oklahoma Water
8 Resources Board require certain meters for water
9 wells; providing measuring requirements; requiring
9 data from the measuring system to be utilized for the
10 annual groundwater use report; and providing an
10 effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 82 O.S. 2021, Section 1020.19, is
14
15 amended to read as follows:

16 Section 1020.19 Upon request of a majority of the landowners
16
17 residing within a basin or subbasin, the Board is authorized to
17
18 require that water wells be metered and that such meters as the
18
19 Board shall approve be utilized by the applicant and placed under
19
20 seal, subject to reading by the agents of the Board at any time.
20
21 The Oklahoma Water Resources Board shall require that all water
21
22 wells be equipped with water well flow meters or an alternative
22
23 measuring system as defined by the Board. Such measuring systems
23
24 shall remain on the well and be in proper operating condition at all

 1 times when groundwater is being produced. Data from the measuring

2 system shall be utilized for the annual groundwater use report. The
2
3 Board may also require that the applicant report the reading of such
3
4 meters or alternative measuring system at reasonable intervals.

5 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
