7 An Act relating to elections; prohibiting the use of
7 ranked choice voting; defining terms; providing for
8 codification; and providing an effective date.

11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

12 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
12
13 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1-112 of Title 26, unless there
13
14 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

15 A. No election conducted by the State Election Board, a county
15
16 election board, or any entity authorized to conduct elections in
16
17 Oklahoma shall use ranked choice voting, ranked voting, proportional
17
18 ranked voting, preferential voting, or instant runoff voting.

19 B. As used in this section, "ranked choice voting, ranked
19
20 voting, proportional ranked voting, and preferential voting" shall
20
21 mean any voting system whereby a voter ranks candidates in a
21
22 sequence from first, second, third, and onward on a ballot to
22
23 determine a winning candidate.

1 C. As used in this section, "instant runoff voting" shall mean

2 any voting system whereby a voter ranks candidates in a sequence
2
3 from first, second, third, and onward to determine which candidates
3
4 advance to a general election.

5 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
