10              An Act relating to legal tender; mandating that
                certain organizations accept cash as legal tender for
11              activities and contests; prohibiting fees and
                discounts; clarifying acceptance of other forms of
12              legal tender; defining term; providing for
                codification; providing an effective date; and
13              declaring an emergency.

16   BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
17        SECTION 1.             NEW LAW         A new section of law to be codified
18   in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 821.20 of Title 70, unless there
19   is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
20        Any private organization or association which charges schools or
21   school districts a membership fee, retains a portion of revenue
22   generated by an interscholastic activity or contest of the member
23   schools, and provides the coordination, supervision, and regulation
24   of the interscholastic activity or contest shall accept cash as

1    legal tender for admission to any activity or contest.         There shall
2    be no increased charge for the use of cash nor shall there be a
3    discount for the use of another payment method.         Nothing in this act
4    shall be interpreted as prohibiting the acceptance of noncash forms
5    of legal tender.
6         As used in this act, the term "cash" refers to the United States
7    dollar.
8         SECTION 2.        This act shall become effective July 1, 2024.
9         SECTION 3.        It being immediately necessary for the preservation
10   of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
11   declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and
12   be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
