6 AS INTRODUCED
7 An Act relating to crimes and punishments; making
certain acts unlawful; providing penalties; providing
8 for codification; and providing an effective date.

11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
12 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
13 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 650.12 of Title 21, unless there
14 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
15 A. Every person who commits an assault upon a municipal
16 building inspector or municipal code enforcement officer while such
17 building inspector or code enforcement officer is in the performance
18 of his or her duties shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a felony
19 punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of
20 Corrections for not less than one (1) year, by a fine of not less
21 than Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00), or by both such fine and
22 imprisonment.
23 B. Every person who commits any battery or assault and battery
24 upon a municipal building inspector or municipal code enforcement

1 officer while such building inspector or code enforcement officer is
2 in the performance of his or her duties shall, upon conviction, be
3 guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the
4 Department of Corrections for not more than five (5) years, by a
5 fine of not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or by both
6 such fine and imprisonment.
7 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2024.
