7 A Joint Resolution directing the Secretary of State
7 to refer to the people for their approval or
8 rejection a proposed amendment to Section 1 of
8 Article III of the Oklahoma Constitution; clarifying
9 certain voting requirement; providing ballot title;
9 and directing filing.

12 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12
13 2ND SESSION OF THE 59TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

14 SECTION 1. The Secretary of State shall refer to the people for
14
15 their approval or rejection, as and in the manner provided by law,
15
16 the following proposed amendment to Section 1 of Article III of the
16
17 Oklahoma Constitution to read as follows:

18 Section 1. Qualifications of electors.
18
19 Subject to such exceptions as the Legislature may prescribe, all
19
20 only citizens of the United States, who are over the age of eighteen
20
21 (18) years, and who are bona fide residents of this state, are
21
22 qualified electors of this state.

 1 SECTION 2. The Ballot Title for the proposed Constitutional

2 amendment as set forth in SECTION 1 of this resolution shall be in
2
3 the following form:

6 THE GIST OF THE PROPOSITION IS AS FOLLOWS:

7 This measure amends Section 1 of Article 3 of the Oklahoma
7
8 Constitution. It clarifies that only citizens of the United
8
9 States are qualified to vote in this state.

10 SHALL THE PROPOSAL BE APPROVED?

13 SECTION 3. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate shall,

14 immediately after the passage of this resolution, prepare and file
14
15 one copy thereof, including the Ballot Title set forth in SECTION 2
15
16 hereof, with the Secretary of State and one copy with the Attorney
16
17 General.
