7 An Act relating to motor vehicles; amending 47 O.S.
2011, Section 1116, which relates to motor vehicle
8 registration; modifying registration period for
certain vehicles; and providing an effective date.

11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
12 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 47 O.S. 2011, Section 1116, is
13 amended to read as follows:
14 Section 1116. A. Twelve registration periods shall be
15 established for vehicles required to be registered on a staggered
16 basis. The registration periods shall start on the first day of
17 each calendar month and shall end on the last day of that month.
18 Unless otherwise provided, all such vehicles where the date of
19 execution of transfer of ownership occurs in this state at any time
20 during a calendar month shall be subject to registration and payment
21 of the fee for the registration period commencing the first day of
22 the month of such date of execution of transfer.
23 B. 1. A person who registers more than one vehicle may have
24 all of such vehicles initially registered at the same time or at

1 separate times. Any person who obtains a vehicle may, upon
2 registration, have the registration period adjusted to allow future
3 registration of all such vehicles at the same period or at a
4 different period.
5 2. Any two or more noncommercial vehicles owned by the same
6 person and previously registered in this state may be registered at
7 the same time regardless of the month or months in which the
8 vehicles were previously registered. The month in which the
9 noncommercial vehicles are newly registered shall be the month in
10 which the registration is renewed annually. If a noncommercial
11 vehicle is registered pursuant to this subsection in the same
12 calendar year in which it was previously registered, license and
13 registration fees shall be prorated to account for the difference
14 between the previous renewal month and the new renewal month and
15 those fees shall be due at the time of registration pursuant to this
16 subsection.
17 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2020.
