The 136th General Assembly of Ohio has introduced a concurrent resolution honoring the longstanding partnership between the Province of Quebec and the State of Ohio. This resolution highlights the close ties between the two regions, particularly through their participation in the Conference of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers, as well as the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus. It emphasizes their collaborative efforts in addressing critical issues related to water management, trade, and environmental sustainability, given that they collectively manage 20% of the world's fresh water and support the drinking needs of over 40 million people.
The resolution also notes the significant economic relationship between Quebec and Ohio, with trade increasing by nearly 20% over the past five years. Quebec is recognized as Ohio's second-largest investor among Canadian provinces and a key supplier in various sectors, including aerospace and transportation. The resolution calls for the reaffirmation of the commitment to strengthen this sister-state relationship and acknowledges the mutual benefits derived from their partnership, including job creation and advancements in technology and innovation. A copy of the resolution will be transmitted to the news media in Ohio and the National Assembly of Quebec.
