The bill amends section 5516.03 of the Revised Code to allow for the placement of authorized advertising devices closer to interchanges on the interstate, national, and primary highway systems. Specifically, it establishes that any rule adopted by the director of transportation regarding spacing criteria must require a minimum distance of four hundred feet between an advertising device and an interchange or proposed interchange. This change aims to enhance the safety of the traveling public while accommodating outdoor advertising.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that the rules set forth by the director will not invalidate any municipal ordinances that are equivalent to and consistent with these new regulations. The director is also mandated to provide copies of the rules to any requesting individual at no charge. The existing section 5516.03 is repealed as part of this legislative update.
