The proposed bill establishes the Long-term Care Workforce Study Commission in Ohio, tasked with studying the direct care and long-term care workforce. The Commission will focus on various areas, including assessing current and future workforce demands, developing recruitment strategies, identifying educational needs, and proposing methods to improve job quality and hiring practices. Additionally, it will explore funding mechanisms and pilot programs aimed at enhancing employment opportunities for direct care workers. The Commission is required to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by August 31, 2027, after gathering input from interested parties.

The Commission will consist of members from both the General Assembly and individuals with expertise in long-term care, including direct care workers, service providers, and representatives from relevant organizations. Appointments are to be made by December 31, 2025, and the Commission will be co-chaired by majority party members from both the Senate and House of Representatives. The Commission may also form subcommittees to assist in its duties and will receive administrative support from General Assembly staff. Once the Commission submits its recommendations, it will be dissolved.
