The bill proposes the enactment of section 4501.41 of the Revised Code, which mandates that the Registrar of Motor Vehicles and deputy registrars assist customers in locating and claiming unclaimed funds. Under this new provision, registrars are required to inquire if individuals conducting transactions at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles wish to check for unclaimed funds. If a customer expresses interest, the registrar or deputy registrar must conduct a search using the individual's name and relevant information, and inform them of any potential unclaimed funds.

Furthermore, if unclaimed funds are identified, the registrar or deputy registrar is obligated to offer assistance in submitting a claim. The process for submitting claims will utilize information already held by the registrar or deputy registrar, as well as any additional information provided by the customer. The registrar, in collaboration with the director of commerce, is also authorized to establish necessary policies, procedures, or forms to facilitate the implementation of this section.
