The bill amends section 3321.01 of the Revised Code to clarify age requirements for kindergarten admission and to address a scoring error on the 2024-2025 science end-of-course exam. It stipulates that each school district board of education must admit any student who is five or six years old by the first day of instruction of the school year. Additionally, it allows for early admittance evaluations for children who will turn five or six before January 1 of the school year in which admission is requested. The bill also permits school districts to set August 1 as the cutoff date for first-grade admission instead of September 30.

Furthermore, the bill mandates that the Department of Education and Workforce review the scores of students affected by a scoring error on the science end-of-course examination and adjust their scores accordingly. If the corrected score qualifies a student for a science seal or honors diploma seal, the respective school district must award it. The bill ensures that no student's score will be decreased due to this error.
