The bill amends section 3321.01 of the Revised Code to update age requirements for kindergarten admission and address a scoring error on the 2024-2025 science end-of-course exam. It stipulates that each school district board of education must admit any student who is five or six years old by the first day of instruction of the school year. Additionally, it allows for early admittance evaluations for children who do not meet the age requirements but will turn five or six before January 1 of the school year. The bill also clarifies that once a student is admitted to kindergarten, they cannot be denied admission to another district based on age.

Furthermore, the bill mandates that the Department of Education and Workforce review the scores of students affected by a scoring error on a specific question in the science end-of-course examination. For those students who would have received a higher score had the question been scored correctly, their scores will be adjusted accordingly, and if this adjustment qualifies them for a science seal or honors diploma seal, the respective school district must award it. The bill ensures that no student's score will be decreased due to this error.
