A RESOLUTION
In memory of Dr. Samuel Wallace Speck, Jr.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio extend our deep sympathy to the family and 2
friends of Dr. Samuel Wallace Speck, Jr., in their bereavement; and 3
WHEREAS, Although there are no words to ease the sadness now 4
felt, surely there is solace in the remembrance of having been touched 5
by such a remarkable person as Sam Speck. The warmth of his 6
personality made a lasting impact on his loved ones, including his 7
wife, the late Sharon, his sons, Sam and Derek, and his grandchildren, 8
Sam, Sarah, and Steven, and the love, compassion, and understanding he 9
gladly extended to those around him will long remain in the hearts and 10
minds of many; and 11
WHEREAS, Sam Speck’s zealous love of life and his selfless 12

As Offered
concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding 13
human being and as a leading citizen. His tremendous career included 14
service with Muskingum College, the Ohio State House of 15
Representatives, the Ohio Senate, FEMA, the Ohio Department of Natural 16
Resources, and the Council of Great Lakes Governors’ Water Management 17
Working Group. Without a doubt, his tremendous efforts have served as 18
an inspiration for others; and 19
WHEREAS, A caring friend to all, Sam Speck was infinitely 20
endearing, and his effortless initiatives to enrich the lives of those 21
around him will forever be his legacy. He led an exemplary life, 22
manifesting those virtues we all seek to emulate, and his generosity, 23
talents, and seemingly inexhaustible energy are a pleasure to recall; 24
therefore be it 25
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 26
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 27
salute the memory of an exceptionally honorable man, Dr. Samuel 28
Wallace Speck, Jr.; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 30
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Dr. 31
Samuel Wallace Speck, Jr. 32
