A RESOLUTION
In memory of Charles F. Kurfess.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio extend our heartfelt condolences to the 2
family and friends of Charles F. Kurfess in their bereavement; and 3
WHEREAS, Although there are no words to ease the sadness now felt, 4
surely there is solace in the remembrance of having been touched by 5
such a remarkable person as Charles Kurfess. The warmth of his 6
personality made a lasting impact on his family, friends, and 7
community, and the love, compassion, and understanding he gladly 8
extended to those around him will long remain in the hearts and minds 9
of many; and 10
WHEREAS, Charles Kurfess’ zealous love of life and his selfless 11
concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding 12

human being and as a leading citizen. Among his endeavors, he was a 13
member of the Ohio House of Representatives for twenty-two years, 14
including serving as the speaker for five years, and he also served in 15
the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean War and 16
operated his own law practice in Bowling Green for thirty-three years. 17
Without a doubt, his tremendous efforts serve as an inspiration for 18
others; and 19
WHEREAS, Charles Kurfess thrived in the circle of his loved ones, 20
including his wife, Helyn, his three children, his five grandchildren, 21
and his one great-grandchild, and his effortless initiatives to enrich 22
the lives of those around him will forever be his legacy. He led an 23
exemplary life, manifesting those virtues we all seek to emulate, and 24
his generosity, talents, and seemingly inexhaustible energy are a 25
pleasure to recall; therefore be it 26
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 27
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, in 28
adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the memory of an 29
exceptionally honorable man, Charles F. Kurfess; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 31
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Charles 32
F. Kurfess. 33
