A RESOLUTION
In memory of Brigid Kelly.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are deeply saddened to learn of the passing 2
of Brigid Kelly and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and 3
friends; and 4
WHEREAS, Brigid Kelly left an indelible impression on the people 5
whose lives she touched, and she will be remembered as a spirited 6
individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around her. 7
Following her graduation from Xavier University, she served as a 8
dedicated employee of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and 9
a member of the Norwood City Council before seeking election to the 10
Ohio House of Representatives in 2016. During her tenure as 11
Representative of the 31st Ohio House District, she worked with her 12

colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and she earned the leadership 13
role of minority whip. Moreover, she successfully championed 14
legislation that eliminated the “pink tax,” a subject she was very 15
passionate about. After leaving the Ohio Statehouse, she became 16
auditor of Hamilton County, and she continued to serve consumers to 17
the best of her ability. Her love for Ohio and her sincere desire to 18
serve its people have shown her to be a truly concerned and 19
responsible public servant; and 20
WHEREAS, Brigid Kelly’s regard for improving the quality of life 21
in our society was clearly evident in her personal sacrifices of time 22
and effort to her family, friends, and community. She gave generously 23
of her energy and abilities in all of her endeavors, and she displayed 24
exceptional concern and insight during her public service. Her absence 25
will be keenly felt; and 26
WHEREAS, A loving wife to her husband, Steve, a devoted daughter 27
to her parents, Martha and Robert, and a cherished sister to her 28
siblings, Ned, Gregory, and the late Nicholas, Brigid Kelly always 29
used her talents to the benefit of others, and the laurels of her life 30
stand as a tribute not only to her but also to those she left behind. 31
Although the void her death has created can never be filled, the 32
legacy of care and commitment she established will surely live on. The 33
world is a richer place for her having been in it, and she will be 34
sorely missed; therefore be it 35
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 36
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 37
express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of 38
Brigid Kelly and, in so doing, pay tribute to the memory of a truly 39
unique individual; and be it further 40
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 41
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Brigid 42
Kelly. 43
