A RESOLUTION
Honoring the City of Ashland
on its Guinness World Record.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the City of 2
Ashland on setting a Guinness World Record for largest display of 3
illuminated metal structures/sculptures; and 4
WHEREAS, Throughout its history, the City of Ashland has been 5
known for its residents’ friendliness and willingness to work hard, 6
and that dynamic effort is readily reflected in its Guinness World 7
Record. A partnership between the City of Ashland, the Ashland County 8
Park District, and Grandpa’s Cheesebarn & Sweeties Chocolates and its 9
owners, Dick and Ronda Poorbaugh, 776 lighted Christmas trees were 10
placed along the path on Candy Cane Trail, leading to the city setting 11
the mark for largest display of illuminated metal 12
structures/sculptures, and we applaud all who united behind this 13
cause; and 14
WHEREAS, Ohio’s strength is grounded in its many and varied 15
townships, villages, and cities, and Ashland has been recognized as a 16
standout by Guinness World Records. The city is home to people who 17
uphold noble ideals and exemplary values and who take genuine pride in 18
their exceptional community, and we are certain that it will continue 19
to make countless outstanding contributions to our state and society; 20
and 21
WHEREAS, Every state depends upon such vibrant, durable 22
communities as Ashland for its own survival and stability. By 23
undertaking this exciting challenge, the city has demonstrated it is a 24
place of many engaging qualities, and it readily embodies and thrives 25
upon the values of which our flag is an emblem; therefore be it 26

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 27
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay 28
tribute to the City of Ashland on this delightful occasion and look to 29
its future with great optimism; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 31
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Ashland. 32
