A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Mount Gilead High School boys cross country
team on securing the 2024 Division III State
Championship.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Mount Gilead High School 2
boys cross country team as the 2024 Division III State Champion; and 3
WHEREAS, The talented Mount Gilead High School boys cross country 4
team is, indeed, to be heartily commended for decisively earning this 5
year’s Division III State Championship. The squad’s performance, which 6
included amassing 109 points, reflects the outstanding collective 7
effort by a gifted group of athletes, and without exception, the team 8
has devoted countless hours to training and practice in order to 9
ensure peak conditioning. Clearly, this demanding regimen has paid 10
handsome dividends; and 11
WHEREAS, The members of the Mount Gilead High School boys cross 12
country team have epitomized the power, poise, and precision that 13
befit true champions. Despite sometimes grueling pressure, they have 14
consistently maintained their composure and morale, exhibiting 15
strength, speed, stamina, and agility in every challenging encounter. 16
Time and again, they have risen to the occasion, amply demonstrating 17
their unflagging determination, and their impressive maturity and 18
finesse have earned them widespread respect, even among their most 19
formidable rivals; and 20
WHEREAS, By weathering a rigorous schedule and prevailing over a 21
host of adversaries, the members of the Mount Gilead High School boys 22
cross country team have learned much about dedication, self- 23
discipline, leadership, and perseverance. Their first-place finish is 24

a measure of their stalwart commitment to the sport, and their 25
indomitable spirit has made their families, friends, and coach, Jake 26
Hayes, incredibly proud; therefore be it 27
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 28
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Mount 29
Gilead High School boys cross country team on its brilliant 2024 30
season and wish its members continued success in all of their future 31
endeavors; and be it further 32
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 33
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Mount Gilead High School 34
boys cross country team. 35
