A RESOLUTION
Honoring St. Benedict the Moor Catholic School
on its Centennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to St. Benedict 2
the Moor Catholic School on the occasion of its One Hundredth 3
Anniversary; and 4
WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting 5
tribute to St. Benedict the Moor Catholic School, for since its 6
establishment by the Sisters of the Precious Blood as the first 7
Catholic school on the West Side of Dayton in 1924, it has played a 8
vital role in preparing countless young people to meet the challenges 9
of the future. With an unwavering commitment to the teachings of Jesus 10
Christ as well as to educational excellence, the school has worked 11
diligently to offer students a well-balanced curriculum that seeks to 12
develop their spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical 13
capabilities; and 14
WHEREAS, In working to meet the criteria for scholastic 15
excellence, the faculty and administration of St. Benedict the Moor 16
Catholic School have demonstrated great commitment, leadership, 17
foresight, and support in providing their students with the best 18
possible education and in promoting achievement in all facets of 19
school life. Under its astute leadership, the staff has worked 20
diligently to develop and implement a comprehensive, innovative course 21
of study designed to improve student performance, responsibility, and 22
participation and to help prepare each student to meet the challenges 23
of the future; and 24
WHEREAS, Schools provide young people with much more than basic 25
educational skills, and Catholic schools not only perpetuate our 26

country’s rich educational traditions but also strengthen the 27
community and nation by supporting and promoting the right to 28
religious freedom under our Constitution. In schools guided by the 29
tenets of Christian love and brotherhood, pupils learn the value of 30
cooperation, self-discipline, and perseverance, and as they take part 31
in the celebration of its Centennial, the students, staff, and alumni 32
of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic School can be justly proud of this 33
fine institution; therefore be it 34
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 35
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 36
congratulate St. Benedict the Moor Catholic School on its One 37
Hundredth Anniversary and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and 38
be it further 39
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 40
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to St. Benedict the Moor 41
Catholic School. 42
