A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Kent State University Tuscarawas women’s
volleyball team as the 2024 USCAA Division 2 National
Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to commend the Kent State University Tuscarawas 2
women’s volleyball team on winning the 2024 United States Collegiate 3
Athletic Association Division 2 National Championship; and 4
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 5
Kent State University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team have combined 6
talent and spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to 7
establish themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable 8
dedication, the Golden Eagles have worked diligently toward attaining 9
ultimate proficiency in volleyball, and as a result, they defeated a 10
tough Penn State University Hazleton squad by the scores of 28-26, 25- 11
13, 25-17 to win this year’s USCAA Division 2 National Championship 12
title; and 13
WHEREAS, The Golden Eagles’ achievements and leadership are a 14
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 15
players, their families, their school, their community, and their 16
coach, Cortney Goodwin. In leading her team to victory, Coach Goodwin 17
has not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the 18
fullest but also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination, 19
perseverance, and camaraderie; and 20
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 21
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 22
to pay tribute to the exemplary athletes and outstanding coach of the 23
Kent State University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team for a job 24

well done. The maturity and experience the team members have gained 25
through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in meeting 26
the challenges of the future; therefore be it 27
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 28
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Kent 29
State University Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team on its tremendous 30
season and salute the members and coach as fine citizens; and be it 31
further 32
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 33
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Kent State University 34
Tuscarawas women’s volleyball team. 35
