A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Independence Police Department
on receiving the 2024 National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund
Traffic Safety Award.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Independence 2
Police Department on being presented with the 2024 Traffic Safety 3
Award by the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Fund; and 4
WHEREAS, This prestigious distinction is a fitting tribute to the 5
Independence Police Department, for it has developed and implemented a 6
variety of successful traffic safety programs, including placing 7
portable generators at all major intersections and providing officers 8
with a universal key for efficient assistance in the event of 9
inclement weather or a traffic collision, therefore allowing them to 10
not have to stand in the intersection to direct traffic. Since its 11
inception, the organization has achieved a praiseworthy record of 12
service to the citizens it protects, and its accomplishments are a 13
justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on 14
the agency itself but also on its professional staff and on the 15
community; and 16
WHEREAS, Dedicated to advancing their traffic safety programming 17
and education efforts, the members of the Independence Police 18
Department have striven to ensure the well-being of their fellow 19
citizens, and the enthusiasm and devotion to duty they have shown in 20
all of their endeavors have earned them the gratitude and respect of 21
the residents they safeguard. We are certain that as these esteemed 22
law enforcement officers maintain their unwavering commitment to 23
service, they will continue in the tradition of excellence that has 24
become the department’s hallmark; and 25

WHEREAS, Demonstrating a sincere concern for the future of the 26
area, the members of the Independence Police Department have given 27
back to the populace far more than they have gleaned, and their 28
selfless endeavors stand as the hallmark of responsible citizenship. 29
They can rest assured that they have set an example of humanitarian 30
service worthy of emulation, and considering the bravery, dedication, 31
and self-sacrifice of this host of heroes, it is no surprise that they 32
have inspired trust, respect, and confidence; therefore be it 33
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 34
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 35
applaud the Independence Police Department on its invaluable 36
contributions and salute everyone who helped make this national award 37
possible; and be it further 38
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 39
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Independence 40
Police Department. 41
