A RESOLUTION
Honoring Norton High School band program
on its Centennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Norton High 2
School band program on the memorable occasion of its One Hundredth 3
Anniversary; and 4
WHEREAS, Over the past one hundred years, the Norton High School 5
band program has delighted the community with the musical talents of 6
its members, and it has earned widespread respect and recognition. 7
Established in 1924 as the NHS instrumental music program, it has 8
grown significantly from its humble origins, and today, it includes 9
fifth-, sixth-, seventh-, and eight-grade bands, middle school and 10
high school small ensembles, the high school marching, concert, wind 11
ensemble, jazz, and pep bands, an indoor drumline, and a winter guard. 12
In addition, the program has appeared at competitive events and 13
performed in parades across the nation, and its tremendous record of 14
achievement is deserving of high praise; and 15
WHEREAS, All those who represent and support the Norton High 16
School band program believe that music should be a uniting force in 17
the community, and this Centennial celebration is a testament to the 18
connections that form through such meaningful, collaborative 19
experiences. Everyone involved with this group has good cause to be 20
proud, and these fine individuals have garnered commendable praise for 21
their accomplishments; and 22
WHEREAS, Participation in a school band provides a unique 23
opportunity for students to develop their musical skills and to enjoy 24
a special camaraderie while learning the true value of perseverance 25
and cooperation. The members of the Norton High School band program 26

have certainly distinguished themselves as some of the finest school 27
musicians in the State of Ohio, and as they observe this anniversary, 28
the current director of bands, Jamey Boezi, its members, and its 29
alumni can be justly proud of its fine ensembles; therefore be it 30
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 31
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 32
congratulate the Norton High School band program on its One Hundredth 33
Anniversary and salute the musicians who have lent their enthusiasm 34
and skill to its success; and be it further 35
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 36
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Norton High School 37
band program. 38
