                       A RESOLUTION
                  Honoring Spencer Meng on winning a
     2024 World Southern Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu Championship.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th    1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to     2
Spencer Meng as a 2024 World Southern Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu           3
Champion; and                                                             4
     WHEREAS, Spencer Meng’s outstanding ability and spirited drive, as   5
well as his quickness and tenacity, have distinguished him as a           6
superior athlete, and as a result of his dedication, resolve, and         7
skill, he won gold in the advance form event at the inaugural World       8
Southern Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu Competition in Fuqing, China.          9
Truly, he has gained the admiration and respect of all those who have     10
witnessed him in action; and                                              11
     WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment   12
more than martial arts. Athletes such as Spencer Meng exemplify the       13
qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline,    14
agility, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of        15
practice and competition, he has excelled in all of his endeavors; and    16
     WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of      17
our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards    18
of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable tool.    19
Through his participation in sports, Spencer Meng has learned lessons     20
of perseverance, hard work, and fair and honest competition that will     21
undoubtedly be of great benefit to him throughout his lifetime;           22
therefore be it                                                           23
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of    24
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,          25

As Offered
commend Spencer Meng on his exemplary performance at the 2024 World        26
Southern Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu Competition and salute him as a         27
fine Ohioan; and be it further                                             28
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     29
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Spencer Meng.              30
