A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Kent State University women’s golf team on
winning the 2024 Mid-American Conference.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to applaud the Kent State University women’s golf 2
team as the 2024 Mid-American Conference Champion for the twenty-fifth 3
consecutive year; and 4
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 5
Kent State University women’s golf team have established themselves as 6
truly exceptional competitors by combining talent and spirit with the 7
highest ideals of good sportsmanship. With admirable dedication, the 8
Golden Flashes have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate 9
proficiency in golf, and as a result, they won this year’s MAC title 10
by eleven shots over the runner-up, further demonstrating their 11
mastery of the game and their dominance in the conference for a 12
quarter century; and 13
WHEREAS, The achievements and leadership of the Kent State 14
University women’s golf team are a justifiable source of pride and an 15
excellent reflection on the golfers, their families, their school 16
community, and their head coach, Casey VanDamme. Indeed, in leading 17
the team to victory, Coach VanDamme has helped these athletes to 18
develop great talent by instilling the valuable lessons of 19
determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; and 20
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 21
in the total education of our young people, we are pleased to pay 22
tribute to the exemplary athletes and the outstanding coaches of the 23
Kent State University women’s golf team for a job well done. The 24
maturity and experience the team members have gained through their 25
continued participation in sports will greatly aid them in meeting the 26

challenges of the future; therefore be it 27
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 28
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Kent State 29
University women’s golf team on earning the 2024 MAC Championship and 30
salute the players and coaches on supporting the success of the 31
program; and be it further 32
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 33
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Kent State University 34
women’s golf team. 35
