A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown on its
Sesquicentennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown 2
on its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary, celebrated September 22, 3
2024; and 4
WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting 5
tribute to the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown, for throughout the last 6
one hundred fifty years, it has attained a praiseworthy record of 7
service to the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Youngstown. In 1874, 8
six nuns of the order arrived in the city to serve the local Catholic 9
schools, and the group now assists various underserved populations; 10
and 11
WHEREAS, As the source of many health care, education, and social 12
services, the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown has been involved with 13
numerous outreach ministries, including most recently helping senior 14
citizens in independent and assisted living environments. Indeed, its 15
successes are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent 16
reflection on its devoted leaders and members and on the entire 17
community; and 18
WHEREAS, All those associated with the Ursuline Sisters of 19
Youngstown are to be commended for their foresight, dedication, and 20
selfless donations of time, energy, and ability far beyond what was 21
required or expected. These fine sisters have earned the respect and 22
admiration of many, and their altruistic efforts and commitment to 23
helping the less fortunate are sure to inspire others to devote 24
themselves similarly; therefore be it 25

As Introduced
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Ursuline 27
Sisters of Youngstown on its Sesquicentennial and extend best wishes 28
for perennial good fortune; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 30
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Ursuline Sisters of 31
Youngstown. 32
