A RESOLUTION
In memory of William Thomas Ariss.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of William Thomas 2
Ariss and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Tom Ariss will be remembered as a fine Ohioan and will be 5
eternally memorialized by his family, friends, and community. He lived 6
a rich life, and among his endeavors, he was known and respected for 7
his military service with the United States Army and Naval Reserve as 8
well as his thirty years with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, having 9
achieved the rank of assistant post commander for the Lebanon Post. 10
After his retirement from OSHP, he served as an officer with the 11
Springboro Police Department, an instructor at the Scarlet Oaks Career 12
Development Center, and a four-term sheriff and one-term commissioner 13
for Warren County; and 14
WHEREAS, Tom Ariss flourished in the circle of his family, and he 15
was deeply loved by those who knew him best. A man of exceptional 16
talent and generosity, he found great fulfilment in his various roles 17
as a husband to his wife, Bonnie, as a father to his children, Patrick 18
and Erin, and as a grandfather to his six grandchildren, Amanda, 19
Meghan, Rachael, Dylan, Hannah, and Craig, and his four 20

great-grandchildren, Finn, Miles, Elliot, and Landon; and 21
WHEREAS, By sharing his abounding compassion with the people who 22
cherished him most, Tom Ariss certainly made the world a better place. 23
Indeed, he was active with numerous organizations, including the 24
Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association, the Warren County Community 25
Services Board and Historical Society, and the Otterbein Lebanon 26
SeniorLife Community, and his concern for improving our society was 27
clearly evident. During this time when his absence will be keenly 28
felt, we pay tribute to his estimable legacy of integrity, 29
dependability, and sincerity; therefore be it 30
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 31
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute the life of a 32
truly honorable man, William Thomas Ariss, and hope that the love you 33
feel for him will be a continuing source of strength; and be it 34
further 35
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 36
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of William Thomas 37
Ariss. 38
