A RESOLUTION
Honoring Friendly Inn Settlement, Inc., on its One Hundred
Fiftieth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Friendly Inn Settlement, Inc., 2
as it celebrates its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary; and 3
WHEREAS, This is, indeed, an important occasion, and it provides 4
an ideal time to acknowledge the exceptional work done by Friendly 5
Inn. Since its establishment by the Women’s Temperance Union League in 6
1874 as the Temperance Coffee House and Lunchroom, the organization 7
has engaged in an array of worthwhile activities and projects, 8
including a 5-Star Early Childhood Enrichment Center, numerous 9
individual and family support programs, after-school youth programs, a 10
food bank, and college excursion opportunities, and its impressive 11
contributions to the community readily explain why it is so widely 12
held in high esteem; and 13
WHEREAS, All those associated with Friendly Inn are to be 14
commended for their foresight, dedication, and selfless donations of 15
time, energy, and ability far beyond what was required or expected. 16
These fine people have earned the respect and admiration of many and 17
have set an example of concerned and responsible citizenship worthy of 18
emulation; and 19
WHEREAS, The longest continuously serving settlement house in the 20
United States, Friendly Inn has distinguished itself by its commitment 21
to excellence. Throughout its history, it has maintained a reputation 22
for integrity, reliability, and devotion to service, and the 23
charitable efforts of its staff are deserving of the highest praise; 24
therefore be it 25

As Introduced
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Friendly 27
Inn Settlement, Inc., on its Sesquicentennial and salute its staff and 28
volunteers as outstanding Ohioans; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 30
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Friendly Inn Settlement, Inc. 31
