A RESOLUTION
Recognizing October 2024 as Domestic Violence Awareness
Month in Ohio.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio take this opportunity to recognize October 2024 as Domestic 2
Violence Awareness Month in Ohio; and 3
WHEREAS, The month of October has been designated as Domestic 4
Violence Awareness Month in an effort to mourn those who have died as 5
a result of domestic violence, celebrate those who have survived, and 6
connect to those who work for a better tomorrow. Affecting men, women, 7
and children of all races and socio-economic backgrounds, domestic 8
violence has long-lasting repercussions on the victims, their 9
families, and our communities as a whole, and this month increases 10
public awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding domestic 11
violence and abuse; and 12
WHEREAS, Domestic violence leads to a loss of dignity, and the 13
pain victims face as a result of their offenders’ violations against 14
them is reflected throughout society. In order to prevent the 15
escalation of abuse in the future, it is vital for all concerned 16
citizens to develop a general consciousness regarding the issue of 17
domestic violence and to join together in educating potential victims 18
and offenders about the avoidance of this injustice to humanity; and 19
WHEREAS, On the occasion of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we 20
urge all citizens to mark this observance by not only becoming aware 21
of the tragedy of domestic violence but also advocating for our 22
communities to unite in stopping this heartbreaking issue affecting 23
many. Indeed, Ohioans can offer help, support, and encouragement so as 24
to restore hope to those impacted by domestic violence; therefore be 25

As Introduced
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize Domestic 28
Violence Awareness Month in Ohio, October 2024; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly authenticated 30
copies of this Resolution to Violence Free Futures and to the news 31
media of Ohio. 32
