A RESOLUTION
To urge the United States Congress to pass the 1
Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women's 2
Health Act. 3
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
WHEREAS, Menopause is a natural biological process that can 4
significantly impact physical, emotional, and mental well-being; 5
and 6
WHEREAS, Menopause and mid-life health are critical stages 7
in a woman's life, affecting millions of women in the United 8
States; and 9
WHEREAS, 75 million women are in perimenopause, menopause, 10
or post-menopause right now in the United States, with 6,000 11
more women reaching menopause each day; and 12
WHEREAS, Menopause and mid-life women's health is under- 13
researched, underfunded, and often stigmatized in health care; 14
and 15
WHEREAS, There is a scarcity of federally funded clinical 16
trials on menopause and menopausal hormone therapy and very 17
little menopause education for health care providers; and 18
WHEREAS, Many health care providers lack adequate training 19

and resources to effectively address the health needs of women 20
in menopause and mid-life, resulting in insufficient care; and 21
WHEREAS, According to the nonprofit organization Let's Talk 22
Menopause, only 30% of United States medical residency programs 23
offer a formal menopause curriculum and 80% of OB/GYN residents 24
admit to being ill-prepared to discuss menopause with patients; 25
and 26
WHEREAS, There is a significant need for improved access to 27
menopause-related health care, including better training for 28
health care providers and increased public awareness and 29
education about menopause and mid-life women's health; and 30
WHEREAS, The bipartisan federal Advancing Menopause Care 31
and Mid-Life Women's Health Act (S. 4246) seeks to enhance 32
research on menopause and mid-life women's health; improve 33
training for health care providers; support public health 34
promotion activities; and increase public health awareness, 35
education, and outreach to ensure that women receive the 36
comprehensive care they need; now therefore be it 37
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th 38
General Assembly of the State of Ohio, urge the United States 39
Congress to pass the Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life 40
Women's Health Act; and be it further 41
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly 42
authenticated copies of this resolution to the Vice-President of 43
the United States in her capacity as President of the United 44
States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of 45
Representatives, the members of the Ohio Congressional 46
delegation, and the news media of Ohio. 47
