                       A RESOLUTION
              Honoring Third Baptist Church of Youngstown
               on its One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th   1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to    2
Third Baptist Church of Youngstown on the memorable occasion of its      3
Sesquicentennial; and                                                    4
     WHEREAS, In 1874, Third Baptist Church of Youngstown was founded    5
and organized by the Reverend Pleasant Tucker, and for the past          6
century and a half, this dynamic house of worship has served as a        7
tremendous source of spiritual inspiration for its congregation as the   8
oldest African American Baptist congregation in the city. Indeed, it     9
has encouraged countless people to pursue lives of service, learning,    10
and fellowship; and                                                      11
     WHEREAS, This auspicious celebration offers the members of Third    12
Baptist Church of Youngstown the opportunity to share their memories     13
and to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community.    14
Under the guidance of the historic church’s religious leaders, the       15
parishioners have expanded on the best traditions of the past to         16
ensure a benevolent and prosperous future, and they can be proud of      17
the remarkable examples they have set through their values and           18
principles; and                                                          19
     WHEREAS, The members of Third Baptist Church of Youngstown have     20
stood strong in the face of numerous challenges, and they have had a     21
positive impact on the lives of many local residents. Indeed, this       22
important milestone represents their dedication and commitment to keep   23
their faith alive in the community, and all those associated with this   24
beacon of society are deserving of high praise; therefore be it          25

As Offered
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     26
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           27
applaud Third Baptist Church of Youngstown on its One Hundred Fiftieth     28
Anniversary and offer best wishes as it upholds its rich legacy of         29
faith and fellowship in the years to come; and be it further               30
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     31
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Third Baptist Church       32
of Youngstown.                                                             33
