A RESOLUTION
Honoring Caleigh Richards
as a 2024 Division III State Track and Field Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Caleigh Richards 2
on winning the 2024 Division III State Championship in the 3,200-meter 3
run; and 4
WHEREAS, A senior at Maplewood High School, Caleigh Richards has 5
combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good 6
sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional young 7
athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently toward 8
attaining ultimate proficiency in track and field, and as a result, 9
she placed first in the 800-meter, 1,600-meter, and 3,200-meter runs 10
and helped the 4x800-meter relay team place first at the Trumbull 11
County Meet, placed first in the 800-meter, 1,600-meter, and 3,200- 12
meter runs at the Division III Ravenna District Meet, and placed first 13
in the 3,200-meter run and second in the 1,600-meter run at the 14
Division III Region 9 Meet on her way to placing first in the 3,200- 15
meter run with a time of 10:47.52 and second in the 1,600-meter run 16
with a time of 4:55.31 at this year’s Division III State Meet; and 17
WHEREAS, Caleigh Richards’ accomplishments and leadership, both in 18
and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine 19
reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her 20
coaches, her school, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to 21
excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of many, and she is 22
certainly worthy of high praise; and 23
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 24
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 25
to pay tribute to Caleigh Richards on an exemplary season. Indeed, the 26

same maturity and experience she has gained through her participation 27
in track and field will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of 28
the future; therefore be it 29
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 30
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 31
commend Caleigh Richards on her spectacular 2024 track and field 32
season and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further 33
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 34
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Caleigh Richards. 35
