A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Flying Pig Marathon
on being named the 2024 Best Marathon in America.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to 2
the Flying Pig Marathon on being selected as the 2024 Best Marathon in 3
America by USA Today; and 4
WHEREAS, Congratulations are certainly in order for this 5
remarkable distinction. Since the Flying Pig Marathon was established 6
by Robert J. Coughlin in 1999, considerable time and energy have been 7
invested in supporting this beloved event, which benefits more than 8
three hundred charities as well as provides for a positive economic 9
impact on Greater Cincinnati and its surrounding area. Indeed, we are 10
certain that as this race maintains its uniqueness and charm, it will 11
continue to grow and prosper for many years to come; and 12
WHEREAS, It is fitting that the Flying Pig Marathon be recognized 13
with this award, for its success is thanks to all those who have 14
demonstrated a commitment to investing in the advancement and 15
development of worthy nonprofits. Creating the largest weekend party 16
in town, these fine individuals have displayed exemplary initiative, 17
and they have clearly shown how very much can be attained by a group 18
of conscientious people with clear objectives and firm resolve; and 19
WHEREAS, The optimism and spirit of cooperation found among the 20
Flying Pig Marathon’s staff, partners, volunteers, and runners have 21
helped it gain a well-deserved reputation as an organization whose 22
participants are willing to invest in the health of our society. 23
Indeed, the people who support this fun and exciting event and its 24

festivities are deserving of high praise for their efforts to enhance 25
their community; therefore be it 26
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 27
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 28
commend the Flying Pig Marathon as the 2024 Best Marathon in America 29
and look forward to its ongoing success; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 31
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Flying Pig 32
Marathon. 33
