                       A RESOLUTION
                         Honoring Avery Davis
on winning the 2024 Division II 300-meter Hurdles State Championship.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th    1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Avery Davis as the        2
2024 Division II 300-meter Hurdles State Champion; and                    3
     WHEREAS, A diligent and capable individual, Avery Davis is           4
deserving of recognition for her exemplary accomplishments as a           5
sophomore member of the Brookside High School girls track and field       6
team. An exceptional athlete, she set a BHS-record time of 42.91          7
seconds to win first place in the 300-meter hurdles at the 2024           8
Division II State Meet, the school’s first state title in track and       9
field, and her noteworthy record of personal achievement stands as a      10
hallmark for others; and                                                  11
     WHEREAS, Through her participation in sports, Avery Davis has        12
learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and     13
good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her       14
throughout her life. Through her outstanding efforts, she has inspired    15
countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and she has       16
set an example worthy of emulation; and                                   17
     WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of      18
our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards    19
of individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable          20
educational tool. With sports contributing to the development of          21
countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a fine athlete as      22
Avery Davis; therefore be it                                              23
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of    24
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,          25

applaud Avery Davis on her fantastic 2024 track and field season and       26
salute her as one of Ohio’s finest young citizens; and be it further       27
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     28
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Avery Davis.               29
