A RESOLUTION
Honoring Avery Davis as the 2024 Division II 300-meter
Hurdles State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Avery Davis on winning the 2024 2
Division II State Championship in the 300-meter hurdles; and 3
WHEREAS, A sophomore at Brookside High School, Avery Davis has 4
combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good 5
sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional young 6
athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently toward 7
attaining ultimate proficiency in track and field, and as a result, 8
she won first place in the 300-meter hurdles at this year’s Division 9
II State Meet with a time of 42.91, becoming the first state champion 10
in any sport in the history of BHS; and 11
WHEREAS, Avery Davis’ accomplishments and leadership, both in and 12
out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine 13
reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her 14
coaches, her school, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to 15
excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of many, and she is 16
certainly worthy of high praise; and 17
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 18
in the total education of our young people, we are overjoyed to pay 19
tribute to Avery Davis on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same 20
maturity and experience she has gained through her participation in 21
track and field will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the 22
future; therefore be it 23
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 24
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Avery Davis on 25

her Division II State Championship and extend best wishes for 26
continued success; and be it further 27
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 28
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Avery Davis. 29
