A RESOLUTION
Honoring Holmes County on its Bicentennial.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to recognize Holmes County on the jubilant 2
occasion of its Two Hundredth Anniversary; and 3
WHEREAS, Since the inception of Holmes County two centuries ago, 4
its residents have experienced dramatic growth and change, and yet, 5
commendably, even as they have embraced the promise of a bright 6
future, they have never relinquished their appreciation for the 7
worthiest virtues of the past. Without sacrificing their sense of 8
tradition in the name of progress, the people of the county have 9
managed to nurture a fresh perspective and a positive outlook that 10
endear this distinctive place to all who know it well; and 11
WHEREAS, Two hundred years after it was founded, Holmes County 12
still radiates vitality, optimism, and a charm all its own, and this 13
auspicious milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on the unique 14
history and tremendous achievements of its remarkable communities. 15
Clearly, it is a place of many engaging qualities, and its schools, 16
businesses, and civic organizations embody and thrive upon the values 17
of which our flag is an emblem; and 18
WHEREAS, Every state depends upon such vibrant, durable 19
communities as those in Holmes County for its own survival and 20
stability. In the years to come, the county is sure to remain on its 21
admirable course, continuously transforming challenges into 22
opportunities; therefore be it 23
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 24
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to Holmes 25
County as it commemorates its Bicentennial and offer our best wishes 26

for its perennial good fortune; and be it further 27
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 28
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Holmes County. 29
