                       A RESOLUTION
                         Honoring Mateo Medina
         as a 2024 Division I State Track and Field Champion.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th    1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Mateo Medina on    2
earning the 2024 Division I State Track and Field Championship titles     3
in the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes; and                              4
     WHEREAS, A senior member of the Elyria High School track and field   5
team, Mateo Medina is deserving of recognition for his exemplary          6
accomplishments in running. An exceptional athlete, he secured this       7
year’s Division I State Championship crown in the 100-meter dash with     8
a time of 10.82, the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.67, and the 400-    9
meter dash with a time of 45.88, and he became only the fifth boy in      10
state history to single-handedly win a team title. In addition, he was    11
named a 2024 All-American, and his noteworthy record of personal          12
achievement stands as a hallmark for others to emulate; and               13
     WHEREAS, Through his participation in track and field, Mateo         14
Medina has learned the important lessons of discipline, perseverance,     15
hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great       16
benefit to him. Indeed, he has inspired countless individuals to excel    17
in various areas of endeavor, and his outstanding efforts have made       18
his family, teammates, and coaches very proud; and                        19
     WHEREAS, In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of      20
our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards    21
of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a         22
valuable educational tool. Throughout intense training and                23
preparation, Mateo Medina has consistently demonstrated the talent,       24
integrity, and motivation that are the hallmarks of a true champion;      25

     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     27
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, honor     28
Mateo Medina as the 2024 Division I State Track and Field Champion in      29
the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes and extend best wishes for the        30
future as he attends Arizona State University; and be it further           31
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     32
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Mateo Medina.              33
